Mark Shuttleworth, founder of Canonical, has been discussing the redesign of Launchpad, the open source project management site run by Canonical, in his blog. The redesign is looking at how to make the user experience more responsive, as currently Launchpad is a more traditional, page driven site. In the blog, Shuttleworth talks about a new AJAX based "Morphing dialogue" and has produced a video of the new style dialog in action. The "Morphing dialogue" appears as a floating frame that resizes to fit dynamically changing content, such as forms, with a progress bar showing the users progress through a process.

Shuttleworth also talked about a recent design "sprint" for the Launchpad team, where they selected YUI 3, the next version of Yahoo's UI tool kit, as the basis for Launchpad UI development. He hopes to see the new features based around the selection begining to appear in Launchpad over the coming months.
