MariaDB updates include fix for Windows service bug
The MariaDB developers have released updates to correct the same flaws in versions 5.1 and 5.2 of the drop-in replacement for MySQL.
One bug prevented the automatic start-up of the database server as a Windows service. The flaws originated in MySQL 5.1.51, which was used as the basis of the recent versions of MariaDB. The MySQL developers have fixed these problems in 5.1.53 and MariaDB versions 5.1.53 and 5.2.4 are now based on the source for this version. A second error, now eliminated, occurs when PHP 5.3.3 is compiled with libmariadbclient-dev 5.2.3-mariadb87.
More information about the updates can be found in the 5.1.53 and 5.2.4 release notes, as well as the 5.1.53 and 5.2.4 change logs. Sources, binaries and packages for Linux and Windows are available to download from the project's wiki. MariaDB is licensed under the GPLv2.
