Three months after the release of Magnolia 4.0, Swiss vendor Magnolia International has released version 4.1 of its open source Magnolia content management system. The previous 4.0 release added the Standard Templating Kit (STK), a collection of templates designed for easy customisation. Magnolia 4.1 expands the STK by adding several new ready-made page templates and paragraph templates. Multimedia files such as images, audio and video files can now be added directly from the system through a new Pluggable Digital Asset Management (DAM) environment. Users can also independently maintain themes in order to use several themes for different sections of a single site.

More details about the release can be found in the release notes. Magnolia 4.1 is available to download under the GPLv3 licence and requires Java 1.5, as Java 1.4 is no longer supported. The company also offers a commercially licensed Enterprise Edition with extended features and professional support. A features and differences documentPDF is available to compare the Community and Enterprise Editions of Magnolia.
