Lightspark 0.4.5 open source Flash player released
The Lightspark project has released version 0.4.5 of its open source Flash player. As previously announced, the latest version of the alternative Flash player implementation includes a new Advanced Graphics Engine. The developers say that the updated graphics architecture is even faster and more powerful than before, resulting in better looking graphics and a reduction in overall CPU load.
Work has already begun on the next version, which will include a brand new parser for the AMF3 and will be used to implement ByteArray::readObject, as well as support for Local shared Objects. Additionally, the developers are working on a supported application database that will allow users to report issues in the application.
More details about the release can be found in a post on the Technology Temple blog. Licensed under the GPL, Lightspark 0.4.5 is available to download as an Ubuntu package in a Launchpad PPA repository. Fedora 13 packages are also available for the i686 platform and installation instructions are provided on the project's wiki page.
