Mozilla has announced the availability of the third release candidate (RC3) for Firefox 3.5, code named "Shiretoko". Details of the changes in the open source web browser between the second release candidate and the RC3 release, are limited. Mozilla only says that the release is based on "user feedback". Based on previous releases, this likely means that the RC3 only contains bug fixes and stability and security improvements. The final release is expected to be available early next week.

More details about Firefox 3.5 RC3 can be found in the release notes, which includes a list of known issues. The RC3 release is available to download for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. Current beta, preview and release candidate users can update via the built-in Firefox update service by selecting Help, then "Check For Updates".

Firefox binaries are released under the Mozilla Firefox End-User Software License Agreement and the source code is released under disjunctive tri-licensing that includes the Mozilla Public Licence, GPLv2 and LGPLv2.1.
