Firefox 3.5 RC1 release delayed again

The Mozilla developers have again delayed the first release candidate for Firefox 3.5 due to several unresolved final blocker bugs. According to ZDNet, there are currently 10 final blockers delaying the release. Firefox 3.5 RC1 is now expected to be available within the next two weeks, providing of course that all of the blockers can be eliminated in that time. Assuming that development goes according to plan, the final release of Firefox 3.5 could be publicly available by the end of June.

At the beginning of March, Mozilla confirmed that, in response to suggestions by developers, version 3.1 of Firefox would become version 3.5 in order to reflect the "increased scope" of the browser update. Originally intended as an incremental update to the open source web browser, Firefox 3.5 now includes several new features, including the TraceMonkey JavaScript engine and a Private Browsing Mode.

The current development release, Firefox 3.5 beta 4, was released at the end of April alongside the current stable release, Firefox 3.0.10. Firefox 3.0.11, a security and stability update, is expected to be released in the next 48 hours.
