According to a ZDNet report, private cloud specialists Eucalyptus Systems are to enter into a partnership with virtualisation software company Convirture. The partnership will see ConVirt 2.0 Enterprise integrated with Eucalyptus Enterprise Edition and with the Eucalyptus Open Source Cloud Platform. The resulting products will be jointly marketed and supported by both companies.

The integration of the Convirture software will add management capabilities to the Eucalyptus cloud products that it's claimed will rival those previously found only in proprietary software.

Eucalyptus has already formed a number of strategic partnerships with other open source companies; for example with the Linux distributors Red Hat and Ubuntu, also with management software vendor GroundWork and with scalability and performance experts, Terracotta.
