Camino.gif The Camino developers have announced the release of version 1.6.9, a maintenance release that includes several security and stability updates. Camino is a Mac OS X only browser that's based on Mozilla's Gecko rendering engine. The update upgrades to Gecko version 1.8.1.23, fixing several stability and critical security issues.

The release also features improved ad-blocking and the "Block flash animations" code has been upgraded to use version 1.5.11 of Flashblock. The developers advise all users to apply the update as soon as possible.

More details about the release can be found in the release notes or on the project's wiki. Camino 1.6.9 is available to download (direct download) for PowerPC and Intel-based Mac's running Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later. However, compatibility with Apple's latest version of Mac OS X – Snow Leopard, has yet to be confirmed. Camino is released under a disjunctive tri-license that includes the Mozilla Public Licence, GPLv2 and LGPLv2.1.
