Microsoft Logo Microsoft has announced that it intends to fix a total of 49 vulnerabilities in Windows, Internet Explorer, Office and the .NET Framework on Tuesday, the 12th of October. Nine of the patch bulletins describe vulnerabilities which can be remotely exploited to inject and execute code on a victim's system, despite which only four of the total of sixteen bulletins are rated 'critical'.

Microsoft is not providing any detailed information at this time, but the updates are likely to plug two vulnerabilities used by Stuxnet to elevate its privileges on infected systems. – the company suggested as much on the September patch day. October's patch day puts the company's previous record of 34 vulnerabilities fixed, set in August this year, in the shade.
