Microsoft announces management console for Forefront security tools

Under the code name Stirling, Microsoft is developing a management console from which administrators will be able to centrally administer both Forefront clients and servers and network access control. The system should simplify implementation of security policies.

The anti-virus products from the Forefront range are intended for business use. Stirling should encompass Forefront client security, server security and edge security, plus access control (NAP). The marketing promises simple options for upgrading from existing Forefront solutions to the forthcoming product. Stirling is due to enter a limited beta phase in the course of this year.
