Automatic update of Windows version of QuickTime fails
Users of the Windows version of QuickTime should check whether the current Version 7.1.5 is in fact installed on their computer, and, if need be, download and install the new version manually.
The automatic update of QuickTime apparently fails to work under Windows – therefore the computer will continue to run the vulnerable Version 7.1.3. Launching a search for updates returns the answer that the installed version (7.1.3) is the most recent one; even though version 7.1.5 has been available for download for more than a week now. Under Mac OS X, on the other hand, the automatic update functions flawlessly. The reason for the problem is not known. The vendor has as yet to answer heise Security's request for information.
