Austrian software producer Emsi Software has released Version 3.0 of its anti-spyware product a-squared. Significant innovations pertain to the support of Windows Vista (32-bit) and reduction in memory requirements.

With the "Host Intrusion Prevention System" (HIPS), which is more stable in comparison to the previous version, a-squared should now be able to protect against even unknown bugs, rootkits and viruses. The software can now also be administered by users with restricted user accounts.

Even the free version for private users, a-squared Free, is now available in version 3. But unlike the full version, which can be purchased for 40 euros (or 20 euros for a license renewal), it doesn't have a background guard and therefore no HIPS.
