Rails Logo The developers of Ruby on Rails have released version 2.3.3 of the open source opinionated web framework. The release is mostly bug fixes, but does include some new features.

A new touch method in Active Record allows developers to quickly update a record's time stamp which should in turn make caching easier. Primary key support for belongs_to has been added to better support legacy schemas. Improvements have also been made to the decoding back ends of the JSON libraries and a lighter encoding API replaces the to_json method with a simpler as_json method.

Rails 2.3 is the current stable release. Rails 3 is currently in development, merging the Rails and Merb frameworks. David Heinemeir Hansson presented Rails 3 in a presentation at RailsConf 2009.

Rails is released under the MIT licence, Ruby under the Ruby licence.
