Mozilla logo After much speculation over whether Mozilla, the non-profit foundation, and Google, the search and advertising company, would renew their default search provision deal, Mozilla has announced that a new multi-year deal has been made. Describing the deal as "a significant and mutually beneficial revenue agreement", the announcement made on Mozilla's blog said that the deal will see Google continue to be the default search provider in the Firefox browser for "at least three additional years".

"Mozilla has been a valuable partner to Google over the years and we look forward to continuing this great partnership in the years to come", said Alan Eustace, Senior VP of Search at Google. Terms of the deal were not disclosed as they "are subject to traditional confidentiality requirements" said Mozilla. In its annual statement in 2010, Mozilla did say that 84 per cent of its $123 million dollar revenue came from "a contract with a search provider" and it is likely that the effects of the terms of the new deal will be apparent in future annual statements.
