Linux kernel 3.0 slightly delayed

Kernel Log We are still waiting for the release of Linux 3.0, although last week all signs were still pointing towards a release late on Monday night. The main cause is a flaw in the VFS (Virtual File System) which, in rare cases, made the kernel pretend that files which actually do exist, don't exist. After much struggle, Torvalds and various other well-known kernel hackers did manage to find and solve the problem; however, on Tuesday morning Torvalds said on Google+ that he didn't want to release kernel version 3.0 directly afterwards.

That sounded like the release would be delayed by 24 hours. However, the new kernel was not released last night either, which could be to do with unsolved problems in the code for RCU (Read-copy Update) that were recently found. These delays might shorten the merge window of Linux 3.1, as Linus Torvalds will soon go on holiday.
