HTC posts Hero kernel source code
The HTC Hero Android powered smartphone.
HTC has announced that it has finally posted the kernel source code for its Hero Android-powered smartphone. The Hero source code is available to download directly from the HTC Developer Center portal. The Hero is available unlocked or carrier locked from a number of carriers in the UK, such as Orange and T-Mobile, and was the first Android device to include support for Adobe Flash.
Additionally, the portal includes the kernel source code and binaries for HTC's other Android phones, such as the Dream (aka the T-Mobile G1) and the Magic (aka the T-Mobile myTouch). Each of the downloads are approximately 50 MB in size and are aimed at developers wanting to create applications for HTC's Android devices. The kernel source code for HTC's most recent Android phone, the Tattoo, however, has yet to be released.
