Fluxbox X window manager version 1.3 released
Source: Fluxbox
The Fluxbox developers have released Fluxbox 1.3, over two years after the previous release.
Fluxbox is a lightweight, minimalist X window manager for Linux or Unix and is used, for example, by the popular Linux Mint in the Linux Mint Fluxbox version of the distribution. Originally based on X window manager Blackbox 0.61.1, the first release of Fluxbox was in 2002. The most recent release before 1.3 was 1.1.1 in September 2008.
Version 1.3 adds several new features, including support for bidirectional text, two new actions – Activate Tab and ArrangeWindowsVertical – and a new mouse focus model. Fluxbox is notable for supporting tabbed windows, a feature that Blackbox lacked, and its user interface has just a task bar, a pop-up menu accessed by a right mouse click, and minimal graphical icon support.
Coded in C++, Fluxbox is released under the MIT licence and can be downloaded as source from the Fluxbox web site. Many Linux distributions include Fluxbox in their package managers and the available binaries can be found via a dedicated wiki.
