Executive Committee of the Java Community Process elected

It's been a long time since the Executive Committee (EC) elections of the Java Community Process (JCP) had so much publicity. On the one hand, this was because these were the first elections since Oracle took over management of the Java programming language, and on the other it was because several leading members of the Java community have criticised Oracle's handling of the JCP. Among the resulting consequences were the withdrawal of long-term EC member Doug Lea and the concern that new candidate Hologic had too close an association with Oracle and if appointed to the committee would therefore support Oracle's causes.

The JCP membership didn't ratify Hologic, a vendor of IT products for the health care industry. However, from the candidates that were suggested by Oracle, the Apache Software Foundation and Red Hat were elected into the Executive Committee for the Java Standard Edition (Java SE) and the Java Enterprise Edition (Java EE). An alternative to Hologic will soon need to be found. From the candidates not suggested by Oracle, the JCP community elected the Eclipse Foundation and Google. The Committee for the Java Mobile Edition (Java ME) now includes Research in Motion (RIM), Samsung and TOTVS as well as Aplix and Stefano Andreani.
