The Enlightenment.org developers have announced the release of core EFL (Enlightenment Foundation Libraries) 1.0. This includes version 1.0 of Evas, a canvas library; Edje, a layout and skinning library; Embryo, a scripting language; Ecore, an event handling library; and version 1.40 of EET, Enlightenment's data storage and data transfer library.

The libraries were created as part of the development of the Enlightenment window manager 0.17, also known as E17. Enlightenment, the development of which is in part sponsored by Samsung, is reported to be portable enough to be used on devices like PDAs or mobile phones. The LGPL-licenced libraries can be downloaded from the project's download page. Documentation is also available on the site for the EFL libraries. No date for a non-development release of E17 is visible in the release plans.
