ConnMan connection manager reaches version 1.0

ConnMan Project Maintainer Marcel Holtmann announced that the open source connection manager has reached version 1.0. Targeted at embedded systems running Linux, ConnMan is designed to be small and require as few system resources as possible. ConnMan talks with networking devices using netlink at the system level, while its system daemon and UI communicate using D-Bus .

The major milestone release, Holtmann says, means that the project can now provides a stable D-Bus API. "From now on, the API will only be extended and we will keep backward compatibility going forward," added Holtmann, who works for the Open Source Technology Center at Intel. The daemon supports a number of wired and wireless connection types, including Ethernet, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, as well as cellular technologies such as GSM, UMTS, CDMA and LTE. Plug-ins can be used to extend the modular ConnMan system.
