Akademy 2010 Call for Papers, KDE SC 4.4 RC3 arrives

Akademy Logo The KDE Project has announced that the deadline for the Akademy 2010 conference Call for Papers will be Friday, the 23rd of April. The annual Akademy KDE conference will take place from the 3rd to the 10th of July, 2010 in Tampere, Finland and the conference organisers invite all contributors and users to participate.

Suggested topics include "Expanding Our World: KDE Beyond The Linux Desktop" and "Connecting Our World: Social Desktop", although the organisers say that other KDE-related topics are also welcome. Those interested in submitting a talk or presentation are asked to email their submissions to academy-talks@kde.org and to include an abstract of no more than 400 words

The KDE project developers have also announced the availability of an additional release candidate, RC3, for version 4.4 of the KDE Software Compilation (KDE SC). KDE SC 4.4 will the first release to be based on Qt 4.6 and features a number of bug fixes, package updates and several new applications.

Additional details about KDE SC 4.4 RC3 and its new features can be found in the release announcement. KDE is licensed under a combination of the LGPLv2, BSD, MIT and X11 licenses for core libraries and the GPLv2 or GPLv3 for applications. The final version of KDE 4.4 is scheduled to be released on the 9th of February, 2010.
