Microsoft releases Node.js driver for SQL Server
As part of its efforts to better integrate open source with its proprietary offerings, Microsoft have announced a preview release of a Microsoft SQL Server driver for Node.js. Node.js 0.6.0 was the first version to directly support Windows, a task supported by Microsoft who went on to make Node.js available on their Azure cloud platform.
The driver is available on the Azure cloud platform and instructions how to make use of it are in the announcement. The Apache 2.0 licensed source for the driver is available from the project's GitHub page and includes instructions how to build it; Visual C++ Express is needed to compile the driver. Microsoft says the driver is not production ready and that it is looking for feedback, fixes and contributions from the community.
