WMF file

WMF files can also contain code that is executed under certain conditions. With MS06-001, Microsoft published an update that closed this hole.

A JPG file disguised as a WMF file is attached to this email. When the file is opened on unpatched systems, it starts the Windows calculator. But be careful when you are saving it. To set off the start mechanism, all you need to do is look at the directory in Windows Explorer. If the Explorer crashes in the process, you can delete the file before you tell the computer not to send a problem report to Microsoft. And don't forget to empty your trash can.
