EICAR test virus, encrypted ZIP
This email has a zip archive attached to it that contains an EICAR test virus (see EICAR test) that is encrypted with a password. You will be sent the password when you get the email. Such archives are used to send, among other things, different variants of the Bagel virus.
Any antivirus program should recognize the EICAR test file when the archive is opened with a password and prevent the eicar.com file from being executed. However, virus scanners operating at the level of email gateways will have trouble detecting the EICAR test virus. Disguised password hints reduce their chances of detecting such viruses even further.
