Sun has fixed a vulnerability in its Java System Application Server and Web Server. The company did not provide more details on the nature of the hole, but it is known that attackers could have bypassed security mechanisms and read files outside of the configured system root directory, thereby allowing access to sensitive information.

The flaw affects Sun's ONE Application Server 7, Java System Application Server 7 2004 Q2, Java System Application Server Enterprise Edition 8.1 2005 Q1 and Java System Web Server 6.0 and 6.1 2005 Q1 on various platforms. The company's security advisory provides links to the updates.
