Netgear STM150
Zoom Netgear Prosecure web & e-mail Threat Management Appliance - STM150
Netgear's Security Appliances, the STM150, STM300 and STM600, investigate network traffic between the firewall and the local network to detect unwanted e-mails, viruses and other attacks. The devices work together transparently, making the need for additional settings for a mail server and Web proxy unnecessary.

The devices filter via HTTP, HTTPS, FTP URLs and fish for Spam from SMTP and POP3 connections. The content filter examines data by file type, the URL (white and black lists) and e-mails by the subject. They also block ActiveX, JavaScript and Flash content on web pages. The anti-malware software examines network data during transmission, which, according to the data sheetPDF also works with HTTPS. It blocks spyware, known spyware Web sites and prevents phishing attacks. Instant messaging and streaming protocol are also monitored by the appliances.

The devices are administered via a SSL-encrypted Web interface, which can also set a schedule for user access rights. Status messages and warnings can be sent from the devices via SNMP, syslog or e-mail.

The STM150 is available now for 1,200 Euros and will handle 20 to 150 users. The STM300 and STM600 will be available from the second quarter of 2009. The model STM300 cost 1,900 Euros for 300 users and the STM600 can handle up to 600 users and will cost 2,800 Euros.
