United against phishing - EU sponsors anti-phishing research
The European Commission is distributing research funding for the prevention of phishing attacks as part of a three year anti-phishing project. Symantec, network equipment supplier Nortel, the University of Leuven in Belgium, Tiscali and the Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems (IAIS) have been selected for the project.
The objective of the AntiPhish project is to develop anti-phishing technologies for better protection and security of the global e-mail communications infrastructure. Each of the partners in the AntiPhish consortium is expected to provide a special contribution to the research. The Fraunhofer IAIS is to coordinate activities. After testing in test laboratories, the new technologies are to be initially implemented by the ISP, Tiscali.
