Unified network registration
Cisco has released version 4.0 of its Secure Services Client for Windows 2000 and XP. The program functions as a unified framework for registering computers and applications in secure networks. The network counterpart can be the Secure Access Control Server or a "self-securing" network using Cisco's Network Admission Control (NAC) technology. It is based on authentication under IEEE 802.1X.
Cisco stresses that some new software functions were made possible by the recent takeover of Meetinghouse Data Communications, but does not give further details.
