Anonymous icon The Metropolitan Police say they have arrested a 19 year old man at a residential address in the Shetland Islands. The police say they believe that the man uses the online nickname of "Topiary" and has presented themselves as a spokesperson for Anonymous and Lulzsec. The man is being transported to central London for questioning while the premises is being searched.

On 22 July, the user behind the Twitter account @atopiary deleted all postings on the account leaving only one message: "You cannot arrest an idea". Since then, the account has been silent.

The investigations into what the police describe as "criminal activity by the so-called 'hacktivist' groups" also saw a 17 year old male from Lincolnshire being interviewed under caution. The Police Central e-Crime Unit (PCeU) are investigating network intrusions and DDoS attacks against international businesses and intelligence agencies.
