One week after the release of Firefox versions 3.0.4 and 2.0.0.18, the Mozilla Foundation has now also released Thunderbird 2.0.0.18 to close the known holes. None of the flaws fixed by the update is rated as critical by the developers.

Many of the holes can only be exploited if JavaScript is enabled, which is not the standard setting in Thunderbird. The Mozilla Foundation also regularly advises not to change this setting in its security notes.

The new version can be downloaded from the downloads page and is already being distributed as an automatic update. Users are advised to install the update immediately.
