Sysinternals has released a system utility called Process Monitor 1.0. It can be downloaded at no charge. The software logs not only registry and file access in one window, but also delivers extensive information about the listed processes. Up until now three separate programs were required for this: Regmon, Filemon and Process Explorer. Unlike Process Explorer, which is still available for use, Process Monitor does not function as a replacement for the Task Manager.

The program runs on Windows 2000 with SP4 and Update Rollup 1, XP with SP2, Server 2003 and Vista as well as all x64 versions of XP, Server 2003 and Vista. Process Monitor 1.0 can be downloaded from Microsoft's Technet pages. Microsoft acquired Sysinternals in July of this year.
