According to an announcement on the sites homepage, provided that no new hosting sponsors are found, the SORBS (Spam and Open-Relay Blocking System) blacklist site is for sale. The University of Queensland has informed Michelle Sullivan (formerly Matthew Sullivan) that it would no longer be providing hosting services for the site after the 20th of July, 2009. An update post by Sullivan says that a number of offers have already been made and that they are currently being evaluated.

PostMasters that use the Spam and Open-Relay Blocking System on their mail servers for spam detection are advised to keep checking the site for further updates from Sullivan. Currently, SORBS services over 30 billion DNS queries per day. Blacklists which no longer work will delay the delivery of emails because of DNS query time outs. Some discontinued blacklists can, given any request, say that the site is "listed" on the blacklist and at worst can prevent mail delivery if the mail administrator doesn't notice.
