Following the patch fest in July and August, this upcoming Patch Tuesday looks to be a relatively quiet affair: only two important Windows updates and one critical one for MS Office appear on the list of announced patches related to security. One would hope that the latter item will close the Zero Day vulnerability in Word 2000, which is already being actively exploited. The updates will require a restart of the computer.

The Redmond company also intends to deliver two high-priority updates unrelated to security via Windows Update and Software Update Services (SUS); three updates will be delivered via Microsoft Update and Windows Server Update Services, the successors to those services.
