The Offline Update script collection, published by heise Security, makes Windows updates accessible without an internet connection. The scripts download all updates for Windows 2000, XP and Server 2003 from Microsoft's servers in one go and use them to produce up-to-date installation media, which can then be used to patch any number of PCs offline.

The project webpage includes version 3.03, updated by Torsten Wittrock, which now makes use of Microsoft's new catalogue file wsusscn2.cab. This catalogue lists all available Windows updates including their download addresses. Microsoft's Baseline Security Analyzer also makes use of this data to check whether a computer is fully patched.

From March, Microsoft intends to stop updating the previous version, wsusscan.cab - Offline Update script users should therefore ensure that they have updated to version 3.03 by this date. The update also fixes a few minor bugs, listed on the project webpage.
