Windows users of Firefox 1.5.0.12 are now being offered an upgrade to the current Version 2.0.0.4. Support for Version 1.5 will end and updates for security holes will only be available for Version 2.0 in future. Support was originally planned to end in April. For technical reasons, the deadline was postponed in order to distribute Version 1.5.0.12 first, which contains a couple improvements for the major update to 2.0. The Mozilla Foundation will thus ensure that every user who has not completely switched off the automatic update will be able to upgrade automatically.

Update notification
User shouldn't choose "Never" because this deactivates the update mechanism alltogether.

In comparison to its predecessor, Version 2.0 offers both new and better functionality, as well as a rudimentary phishing guard. However, it is possible that some Firefox extensions will cease to function after the upgrade, but a list of the modules that will no longer be supported will be available before upgrading.
