Microsoft Logo Microsoft has withdrawn update KB2412171 for Outlook 2007, released last Patch Tuesday, after a number of user complaints. The changes in the update may have solved some problems, but they also created some. For instance, the update prevents emails from being retrieved from servers that do not support Secure Password Authentication (SPA) even when that option has been selected in the client. Users of Gmail are in particular affected by this issue.

Furthermore, when switching folders it may be necessary for users with an IMAP, POP3, or Outlook Live Connector account (such as Windows Live) but not an Exchange account, to wait for several seconds because AutoArchive then no longer works. Microsoft recommends that users suffering from these problems uninstall the update and says that at some point in the future, a new version without these flaws will be released.
