Microsoft plans to release eight security updates next Patch Tuesday, 9th December. Six of them are designed to close critical holes that allow attackers to remotely inject malicious code in Windows, Office (Excel and Word), Internet Explorer and in the Developer Tools (VBA).

Two updates for SharePoint and for the Windows Media Center have been rated important. All the currently supported versions of Windows are affected by the holes in Windows and Internet Explorer.

Updates are planned for the Malicious Software Removal Tools and the "Windows Mail Junk E-mail Filter" for Vista. Microsoft also plans to release two non-security patches for Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003, and Windows XP.
