Microsoft to close 11 vulnerabilities next Patch Tuesday
Microsoft has announced that it will release 9 security updates on its next Patch Tuesday, the 14th of September. The updates will reportedly address a total of eleven vulnerabilities in its Windows, Office and Internet Information Services (IIS) products. In a post on its Microsoft Security Response Center blog, the company confirmed that four of the vulnerabilities are rated as "Critical", while the rest are considered to be "Important".
Microsoft says that the vulnerabilities can reportedly lead to remote code execution or privilege elevation; further details about the updates have yet to be confirmed by Microsoft. It's unsure if the updates will continue to workaround the DLL vulnerability as even some of company's own applications, such as PowerPoint are affected. Other third-party applications, such as Opera 10.62 and VLC 1.1.4, have already published updates to address the Windows DLL vulnerability.
