Microsoft has released an update for System Center Configuration Manager 2007 (SSCM) to re-enable the deployment of patches to clients. After the latest patch day, administrators were no longer able to deploy the security updates provided by Microsoft to clients running the System Management Server 2003 client (SMS 2003).

Although Microsoft didn't rate the problem itself as a security issue, the blockage made it impossible to install updates to close holes in Internet Explorer, DirectX and WINS on client PCs. This did present a security issue and information about it was released in a security advisory.
