McAfee acquires Trust Digital
Security services provider McAfee has announced that it will acquire Trust Digital, which specialises in advanced mobile security and management, often called enterprise mobility management (EMM). McAfee currently offers its ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) management console technology, an "enterprise-class, open platform to centrally manage security for systems, networks, data, and compliance solutions".
Discussing the agreement, McAfee president and Chief Executive Officer Dave DeWalt said that, “Once completed, Trust Digital’s industry leading enterprise mobility management solutions combined with leading McAfee anti-virus, anti-spyware, host intrusion prevention, policy auditing and firewall technologies, will enable McAfee to address the mobile workforce by mitigating the risks associated with vulnerable or malicious mobile applications downloaded by employees". The company says that it hopes to expand its current service offerings and improve its support of a number of mobile operating system platforms, including Apple's iPhone OS, Android, the WebOS, Windows Mobile and Symbian.
The deal is expected to be completed on the 30th of June. The financial terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.
