- A lively discussion on sexual harassment at security conferences began after Defcon; Brucon has now implemented an anti-harassment policy.
- At the same time, the legendary Phrack hacker magazine discovered the topic of "sex hacking" in its Call For Papers for edition 69, decorating its announcement with ASCII graphics that are, at best, reminiscent of the teletext pages from the 1990s.
- Where is it all going to stop? The dictionaries of team hashcat, who won this year's "Crack Me If You Can" contest, contain place names such as "Appenzell Ausserrhoden".
- One can only hope for the best: the events calendar of Congress Center Hamburg
, the chosen venue for the 29c3 congress, contains events such as the "35th German Congress of Tax Advisers 2012" and the "8th North German Naturopaths Congress " – but there is no mention of Chaos.
