Lean firewalls from Yoggie
Yoggie Security Systems has launched two firewall systems, Open Firewall Pico and Open Firewall SOHO. The Pico model, a complete Linux system on a pen-drive device, plugs in via USB 2.0. A driver, available for Windows and Mac OS X, routes all network data through the device, which then filters the traffic. The SOHO version is inserted into a local network via its two Ethernet ports, so it doesn't need any drivers.
Both devices contain a miniature computer with a 520-MHz ARM CPU, 128 MB RAM, and flash memory. The firewall runs under Linux, and Yoggie is providing the source text of its software and some other applications in an SDK for developers and users. The devices have an SSH access that gives a command-line interface to allow customization and the development of new applications software. Open Firewall Pico and Open Firewall SOHO cost $69 and $99 respectively, and Yoggie is giving a $20 introductory discount on both devices for the coming three months.
