Microsoft Logo With a hotfix, Microsoft has solved the problems that occurred in PowerPoint 2003 after the last Patch Tuesday update. A security patch released in April's round of updates prevented some presentations with background images from opening, resulting in an error message stating that the file is corrupted and cannot be fully displayed. As a workaround, Microsoft recommended uninstalling the affected patch via the Control Panel. Only users of PowerPoint 2003 are affected as later versions of the presentation software do not contain the bug.

Microsoft recommends that users only install the emergency patch now released if they are actually affected. If not, the software vendor says they should wait for the next update, which will also contain the patch.
