HP to acquire Fortify Software

HP has announced that it is acquiring Fortify Software, makers of security analysis and assurance tools for application developers. HP says the acquisition of the privately held Californian software maker will allow it to offer a complete security assurance system integrated with application development life-cycles.

The two companies have previously worked with each other on similar product offerings. The terms of the deal were not disclosed. When the deal is closed, in the short term HP plan to run Fortify as a stand alone entity, integrating the company with HP's Software and Solutions business over time.
