The new Online Gaming High Scaling SIG (Special Interest Group) focusses on the challenges and solutions in scaling today's online games. The new SIG is starting its life with a one day conference on July 9th, which looks at the potential of clouds and grids in powering online games. The SIG has been created to bring together the skills and knowledge of both proprietary and open source, developers and vendors, to examine and discuss how to meet the demands of online game players.

The conference opens with a keynote from Alexis Richardson of Rabbit Technologies, the company behind the open source AMQP compliant RabbitMQ messaging system. The agenda then splits into two tracks, business and technical. In the business track, there are talks on developing an online casino with cloud deployment, looking at improving resilience and security challenges in the cloud. In the technical track, there are talks on persistence issues in cloud systems, using Gigaspaces as a game platform, using data grid, scaling with messaging, push delivery technology and data mining cloud data.

The event is taking place at The Old Sessions House in Clerkenwell. The day is free, but places are limited and require registration. The H is proud to be a media sponsor of the Online Gaming High Scalability SIG Event and will be reporting on the day.
