Starting in mid September, retailers will be selling G DATA's new generation of security solutions for consumers. NotebookSecurity 2009, TotalCare 2009, InternetSecurity 2009 and AntiVirus 2009 reportedly scan up to five times faster than their predecessors. To do so, on multi-core systems, the scanners spread tasks across multiple processor cores and try to distribute the computing load. In addition, G DATA now adds fingerprints to files that have already been scanned so that unchanged files are not re-scanned.

G DATA also says that the user interface has been completely revamped. The Silent Firewall in the Security suites reportedly answers more queries independently without presenting users with cryptic firewall pop-ups. Even during installation, the products adapt individual modules to provide the best performance on your local hardware. NoteBookSecurity and TotalCare 2009 also include a completely revised Backup&Recovery module.

G DATA's UK customers can purchase from Ultimate Internet Security. NotebookSecurity 2009 will cost £39.99 for one PC, TotalCare 2009 £39.99 – 3 PCs £59.99, InternetSecurity £34.99 – 3 PCs £49.99 – and AntiVirus 2009 £19.99 – 3 PCs £37.99.

Panda says its latest product line also goes easy on resources and has a higher detection rate. Its 2009 security solutions use "collective intelligence"; the scan results from all of its customers PCs are sent directly back to Panda online. PCs can then rely on information related to contaminants already detected on the other PCs. Phishing protection is provided in Antivirus Pro 2009, Panda Internet Security 2009 and Panda Global Protection 2009 by means of a filter that checks your inbox and removes dangerous e-mails.

In addition, a refined anti-banking trojan engine is provided to make online banking and other transactions safer. Panda Antivirus Pro 2009 is already on sale for £30.99, while Internet Security 2009 costs £42.99 and Panda Global Protection 2009 with an additional backup function costs £48.99. All the Panda prices are for three 1 year licences. Other purchase options are available from the company's web site.
