Secumem has developed an external data storage safe that protects data against theft and environmental threats such as fire, dust and water. The Threx file vault acts as a sort of "black box" for your data that can be connected to a computer via a USB 2.0 or external Serial ATA (eSATA) connection. Optional wired (LAN) or wireless Ethernet (WLAN) connections are also available at an extra charge.

The Threx data safe contains two 1 TB hard hard disk drives that can be mirrored in a RAID 1 array. According to Scumem, the Threx outer shell can withstand at least one hour of fire exposure. Threx contains heat exchangers that insulate the internal systems using a liquid filled tank to keep the inside systems cooler than the outside environment. The safe is 26 cm long and weighs 85 Kg.

Secumem is accepting orders for the Threx data vault which starts at €3,499 and can take up to six weeks to be delivered. Data backup software and shipping are not included.
