An analysis of Mozilla's Abobe Flash version check, recently added to the latest Firefox updates, shows that although it is not a complete solution, it is helping. According to Ken Kovash on the Mozilla metrics blog, ten million people have clicked through on the page to update their Flash installation in one week.

According to page view statistics, around half the users arriving on the Mozilla "What's New" page were informed that they had an out of date version. Of those users, around 30 per cent of them clicked through to get a Flash update for their system. The previous click through rate was around 5 per cent. Kovash says that the "effort has a chance of making a significant impact with overall internet security".
