Among the items CAcert, the network for free SSL certificates, is presenting on stand G 64/1 in hall 5 is the extended version of mobile OTP MOTP+. With this it is possible, in combination with a Java enabled mobile phone, to generate one-time passwords for logging onto websites. One-time passwords (One Time Pads, OTP) do away with the need for static passwords and make life tougher for people like phishers.

In addition, it is also possible to have an SSL certificate issued at the stand, to secure communication between web servers and clients via SSL. The certificate is also suitable for secure e-mail communication via S/MIME. Valid photo ID or a valid driving licence is required. The certificates are issued both for private individuals and for organisations.

Alternatively, c't is this year also accepting certificate applications for PGP keys on the Heise stand (hall 5, stand E38) as part of its crypto campaign. Interested parties can generate their own PGP key on the famous glass computer.
