Stefan Esser, PHP security expert and founder of Cologne-based security services provider SektionEins, has launched a new campaign to improve PHP, the open source scripting language. Taking its cue from the Month of PHP Bugs launched in 2006, the campaign will serve up fresh information for PHP fans daily.

In contrast to his previous initiatives, this time round Esser is involving the community. A call for papers on the project website calls for submissions ranging from articles on vulnerabilities in the core PHP scripting language, to papers on theoretical issues and guides for programmers.

The submissions will be evaluated by a team consisting of SektionEins staff and prizes will be awarded for the best contributions. These include tickets for security conference SyScan, licenses for a PHP security scanner and vouchers. Entries must be submitted by 11th April.
